Register for the Honey Badgers Cubs!

The Honey Badger Cubs is a spring hockey opportunity for players with a 2016 or 2017 birth year. The Cubs will practice as a team, learn skills similar to our spring teams, all in a fun environment. Cubs will also participate in inter-team scrimmages.


Team Details

The Honey Badger Cubs team will be limited to 26 players and two goalies (no tryouts). The team will practice once per week on Saturdays from 8:00 - 9:00am at Eble Park Ice Arena. Practices begins April 6 and run through June 8. The practice on June 8 will be an inter-team scrimmage!

Practices will focus on key youth hockey skills, designed to build upon skills learned during the regular season, with an emphasis on game play. Examples include:

  • Skating skills

  • Puck handling, passing, receiving, shooting, body positioning

  • Team skills

  • Position play, teamwork, game skills, awareness

The team will participate in inter-team scrimmages, and potentially scrimmages with other teams.

Registration For 2024

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no try-outs for the Honey Badger Cubs. All Honey Badger Cubs participants are required to fill out a release of liability form on the first day of practice.

Head Coach - Andy Mandel

Andy is a Level 3 USA Hockey certified coach and has eight years of coaching experience, including two years of experience as the Developmental Hockey Coordinator for skaters ages 3-7, as well as one year as the U8 Mite Coordinator, and one year as the VP of On-Ice at SHAW Youth Hockey In addition, Andy was an Assistant Coach for the Hockey Locker Honey Badgers 2010 team in 2021, and the Head Coach of the 2010 team, in 2020. As a coach, Andy believes in developing core hockey skills, while having fun and enjoying the game. Andy believes that hockey can help kids learn skills that are applicable off the ice, and finds that very rewarding. He also believes that effort and hard work can go a long way, both on, and off, the ice. Andy lives in Milwaukee with his wife Ashley, son Max and daughter Mattie.
